GoDaddy Reseller Program
One thing we try to tell people about the internet is that not everyone is legit and that there are alot of resellers out there trying to make money selling domain names and web hosting services. Sometimes this can be a benefit to a web hosting customer if their reseller is perhaps their web site developer and makes a little something extra to have the clients host through him or her and then have the ability to lean on that developer when things get tough. The resellers which hurt this industry however are those companies who merely put up a storefront pretending to be a legitimate company and just going out marketing to individuals and marking up those services. The problem here lies in that the marked up rate cannot be that much more than the rate from the main company that they purchase the domains and or the web hosting from. If their markup is too high then most likely people are going to go buy from some place that offers the same thing lower, and if the markup cannot be significant enough, then most likely the business model cannot support too many people and their service standards fall.
I wanted to point this out since the GoDaddy ResellerProgram has churned out thousands of pretend domain name and web hosting companies which are merely storefronts for many 1 man operations. Take for instance these 3 sites: DomainAsset.net, NetworkRegister.com, WarehouseDomains.com. When you look closely at those three web sites you see they basically sell the exact same thing at roughly the same price. Not only that all three sites look similar to each other, two look almost the sameand in two of them the woman model is the same. Now look at the phone number (480)624-2500, that number is the same on all three sites and also the same at GoDaddy. In this instance we just want everyone to be safe and to know who they are dealing with. If you end up calling that number you will reach GoDaddy and the support there is very good but why would you not go direct to the main company GoDaddy rather than going through one of their reseller?
