Clustered hosting is a technological system designed to allow multiple servers all run in conjunction with one another and share resources so that a hosted account could actually be hosted by the group of servers rather than on any particular server.

Clustering the servers allows virtulization of sharing the resources beyond the limits of an individual server and within the parameters of the group of servers. the net result is that a web site is not limited to the constraints of any one server. This is good for extremely large and complex web sites which receive lots of traffic, like Yahoo for example.

The advantage of clustering servers is that you can continue to add more and more servers to the cluster which enables the servers to have almost unlimited potential. It also enables the web hosting company to roll out new package considerations, like more disk space too all of the web hosting clients at the same time rather than going through each server and manually updating each server’s clients’ capabilities.

Another advantage is that multiple layers of security protection for the cluster of servers can be employed at the same time rather than server by server ensuring that all of the web hosting clients under the clustered configurement can have the same security at the same time. Typical shared hosting environments do not typically have layered security for their servers.
