This week in the news domain name registrar announced that it was not allowing it’s employees fromparticipating in domain name auctions. The move is to validate all domain auctions through Godaddy or any reseller or affiliated domain registrars as a result of speculation and allegations of unfair insider bidding on auctioned domain names. The action came as a  result of a Godaddy employee Adam Dicker who had outbid another auctionaeer on the domain name spyware.us in what was alleged an unethical business practice. Said Godaddy general counsel Christine Jones, “To ensure customer confidence and to avoid any possible future questions of impropriety, all GD employees are now and in the future prohibited from participating in TDNAM auctions, purchasing, sales & back orders.”

Other news this week included NEC corp announcing that they had reached a definitive agreement to purchase NetCracker Technology Corp for an estimated $300 million. This strategic acquisition adds a key element for services software to the NES portfolio of mobile devices and fixed products whose infrastructure they can support. NEC, based in Japan and having sales of roughly 10 billion yen in 2007 along with a projected growth of 10% in 2008, says that the NetCracker products and services will be important in helping NEC leverage both company’s complimentary assets. NEC president Kaoru Yano said “NetCracker has distinguished itself with a record of successful OSS transformations and exceptional software solutions and professional services. “
